iPhone 11 prices and releases dates across the world revealed

Apple are about to release their latest line up of iPhones: the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. All three benefit from the new Super Retina RDX (liquid retina) display and Apple’s most powerful chip to date – the A13 Bionic CPU. The new design, in particular the camera bump and triple camera design, came under early scrutiny but this soon dissipated once Apple's Phil Schiller came onto the stage in the Steve Jobs Theater and explained the design’s necessity in order to house the innovative 12MP wide and ultra-wide sensors. This allows users to take wider shots, shoot 4K video footage and capture 120fps slow-mo footage. Furthermore, many Apple fans will be delighted to hear that the latest iPhone 11 devices charge faster and have 4 hours extra battery life when compared to last year’s iPhone XS. Improved shatter-resistance and water-resistance are also welcome enhancements for potential buyers. Now, let’s have a look at the prices of Apple’s iPhone 11 in the UK and across the world.

iPhone 11 price in the UK and across the world

While many will baulk at the initial prices stated for the new iPhone 11, the ‘entry-level’ model is available at £749, which is £70 cheaper in the UK than last year’s iPhone XR. Unfortunately, this is where the good news ends for iPhone fans in the UK. In previous years, the price in USD was matched exactly by the price in sterling, and so the excess in price here was minimised. This year, however, Apple have taken precautions to mitigate any pitfalls of a potential fall in the value of the pound due to Brexit and increased the price in sterling significantly. When comparing in dollars, Apple’s UK fans will have to fork out an extra 211 USD in comparison to their American counterparts. The map below provides a rough comparison of prices of the iPhone 11 across the world, in relation to the ‘standard’ US price. Any rugby fans travelling to the Rugby World Cup in Japan this year will be pleased to see that the most ‘undervalued’ iPhone 11 can be found here. As we can see from the map above and the numbers in the table below, Europeans will find themselves paying significantly more than any other region of the world come 20th September. As previously mentioned, it’s not great news for the UK market but it could certainly be worse! Potential iPhone 11 buyers in Sweden will have to fork out a whopping 1362 USD for the entry-level model – almost double the price that those in the US will be paying. This significant hike in price is partly due to the exceptionally high VAT of 25% in Sweden (known in Swedish as Moms), among other increased forms of taxation in relation to the rest of the world. By way of comparison, the UK VAT rate is 20%. The lofty prices of the new models don’t appear to have put buyers off this year, with early sales much stronger than originally anticipated. According to TF Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, who tracks iPhone supply chain data and Apple shipping estimates, the California tech company have increased shipment forecasts from an initial 65-70 million units to 70-75 million. Pre-orders appear to be skewed towards the more expensive Pro models, which have been significantly more popular than the entry-level model thus far. price list iphone 11 globally (1)
